Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Islamic Journal of Integrated Science Education (IJISE) [p-ISSN 2986-6189 | e-ISSN 2986-0865] is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and preventing publication malpractice. This statement follows the principles and best practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Editorial Responsibilities

1.1 Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published, based on the manuscript’s academic merit, originality, clarity, relevance to the journal’s scope, and the results of the peer-review process. Legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism are also considered.

1.2 Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on intellectual content without discrimination based on race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

1.3 Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

1.4 Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent. Any conflicts of interest must be declared and managed appropriately.

2. Reviewer Responsibilities

2.1 Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts through constructive and objective feedback.

2.2 Promptness

Reviewers who feel unqualified to review a manuscript or cannot provide a timely review should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

2.3 Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without authorization from the editor.

2.4 Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively, supported by clear arguments, and free from personal criticism of the authors.

2.5 Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and notify the editor of any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works.

2.6 Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions involved.

3. Author Responsibilities

3.1 Reporting Standards

Authors must present accurate and original research results, with sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable.

3.2 Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Proper citation or quotation must be used when referencing the work or ideas of others. All manuscripts are subject to plagiarism screening.

3.3 Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously or publish redundant work describing essentially the same research.

3.4 Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study. All contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged.

3.5 Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of the research results.

3.6 Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Any use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools must comply with the journal’s Generative AI Policy and be transparently disclosed in the manuscript.

3.7 Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

4. Publisher Responsibilities

The publisher of IJISE, Program Studi Tadris IPA, Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan, Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syekh Wasil Kediri, is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are independent, unbiased, and not influenced by commercial interests. The publisher supports editors in handling ethical issues, including allegations of misconduct, plagiarism, and retractions, in accordance with COPE guidelines.

5. Ethical Oversight

IJISE is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Suspected cases of ethical misconduct—such as plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, citation manipulation, or undisclosed conflicts of interest—will be investigated thoroughly. Appropriate actions may include manuscript rejection, publication of corrections, retraction of articles, and notification of authors’ institutions if necessary.

6. Retraction and Correction Policy

Articles may be retracted or corrected if:

  • There is clear evidence of unreliable findings due to misconduct or honest error;

  • The work constitutes plagiarism or unethical research;

  • The article has been previously published elsewhere without proper disclosure.

Retraction notices will be published clearly and transparently, linked to the original article.

7. Complaints and Appeals

Authors may submit complaints or appeals regarding editorial decisions by contacting the editorial office of IJISE. All complaints will be handled fairly, transparently, and in accordance with COPE procedures.
